1blackfrend is the brainchild of Detroit native Randi Johnson, who has been a songwriter since the mid-2000s. Though her music immediately commands attention by way of its sheer catchiness, her songs are typically written to explore more somber themes.

Johnson is joined by Grant Nielsen and Chris Poland, who are both lifelong performers and writers. Together, the trio forms a grunge-inspired alternative group whose songs become earworms that you'll find yourself humming for days.

The band is currently wrapping up the production on their first album. 1blackfrend's first singles will begin dropping in Spring 2025.
